Don't get me wrong here - I appreciate games like Call of Duty, Team Fortress 2 and Counterstrike. But what happened to the fast paced run and gun shooters that made the gaming industry explode? Anyone up for some Quake? ;x

Haha! I never knew what happened to you. It's probably been 10 years. You knew me by the name "JungleBabe" from the Quake 2 days and the Quake 2 freakfest 3 LAN party (and tournament) is still a very fond memory of mine (I still have all the quake2 demos from that tourney). Good times. I'd love to chat and see what you've been up to (and see what happened to those other guys we used to play with). Do you still hang out with dmann and your other friend (Deimos?) at all? No way, JB! I was Deimos.
Those were the best gaming times of my life. I was just thinking about freakfest the other day and I definitely want to check out those Q2 demos. I've got Q2 on steam, maybe we should all play for a min haha

NO WAYYYY! Marshall and I were literally chatting about the first teams we played with back when we started getting involved with the gaming community! The Freakfest events were a blast. We've been trying to capture that with GEEX. We should definitely get together and watch the demos! dmann is still around He doesn't game as much as he used to, but he recently messaged me on facebook asking for my ID I know he plays quakelive from time to time as well. We should definitely all catch up! |

dang guys! this brings back good memories. Those freakfest LANs _were_ really fun. Things started going downhill when Counterstrike got popular. I still remember Marshall winning that quake3 1v1 tourney vs Chief in the finals at Freakfest 4 or 5 or whatever. But FF3 remains my personal favorite. guys, add me on steam. I'm excited to have someone else to watch those demos with. I showed them to my wife and she just couldn't appreciate the awesomeness or the nostalgia |

I'll definitely add you when I get home. I'd love to watch those old demos and catch up. I have a bunch of elite strike and exile demos in storage somewhere - I'll have to go find them!

Physics and trying to make things look pretty killed that style of game play, but hopefully they can find a new balance and make an awesome game.
PS CS:S is amazing.

Very legit... this is why we need to get the community going again. I think a lot of us have some really fun memories of competitive FPS back in the day! We just need to keep pushing it and getting people together that love doing this stuff Stoked you found these guys again Riv |

Oh GEEZ i can't believe i forgot about painkiller  essentially its quake, but the weapons are much more creative, fast paced, twitch, lead your missles and rocket jump style gameplay, just like quake 3 was |

My good friend Dave would call me a one trick pony - but it's true, I love quake. Can't get over it... I had my text message sound set to the railgun for a while, but every time it would go off the guys here would freak out. ;x
