So after many many temp and weird hardware related crashes on my old gaming maching I'm deciding to put down $2k and build a new pc,component list so far;
MSI N460GTX Hawk GeForce GTX 460
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127518
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128423
Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115225
Rosewill RV2-700 700W ATX12v
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182173 (this one will most likely change... and im pretty sure i need more power...)
OS: ubuntu 10.10 beta until win7 pro price drops a little
mouse: logitech g500
keyboard: ?
speakers/headset: logitech g35 + some 2.1 logitech speaker set thing
also looking for an after-market CPU heatsink setup, any suggestions?
got a few spare 7200 rpm hard drives aswell, so done deal there, might go with a 128gb SSD
looking for a case, looking at geekbox's very own Ego case, not sure if i could get that without buying a pc though, it would be nice, it looks fantastic... it fits ATX right? Tongue
great upgrade from my old one
q6600
evga 8800gts ssc edition (640MB)
aBit ip35 pro
4 (2x2GB) crucial
4 7200 rpm hard drives 750 vista, 250 xp, 500 ubuntu 10.4 LTS, 4th is 1 TB for mainly movies, music and also my steam directory
sony... or was it LG... cd/dvd combo drive
floppy drive (dont ask XD)
and since there are problems with this build (not by the looks of the hardware though... its just unstable for some reason) Im most likely going to bring it in sometime and have it wired and tuned.

Go with a good SSD. Geekbox just built a new machine for me with a Mushkin SSD. It's a whole new world of IO performance.

You can definitely get the Ego case from us. We have more coming in this next week. In terms of an after market cooling solution, are you looking for liquid or air? If you are looking for air, the Thermalright solutions we have are exactly what you're looking for. If you are looking for liquid, we have all the radiators, blocks, pumps, tubing and expertise to build you a nice custom solution.

Can't wait to see how your system turns out - if you need any help tuning, wiring - bring it by and we'll be happy to help you out. (:

Most likely I will go with air cooling, don't need to go to 4Ghz just yet Smiley

I have one more question about a PSU. What would be a safe wattage to go with for future expandability and hardware? or any suggestions? (ie if i decide to go with dual sli on those gtx 460s and say get some sort of physx card or another gpu dedicated to physx)

Also do you happen to carry any of those parts in the store? I'm starting to get disappointed with newegg and their terrible shipping methods.

yup - we can actually get all your parts in stock for you. Most of the stuff we have, just different brands. As for a PSU - I'd go with a 850TX-1200HX.

The GTX 460 asks for 24 amps on the 12v rail and a 850tx provides ~70 amps max. 80 amps on the 1000HX, and 100 amps on the 1200. I generally have all of these in stock - but lately we've been moving more boxes than usual, so we're low on stock some days. Definitely call before hand just to be sure. (:  General rule of thumb - if we build with it, we have it in stock. If we don't build with it, we can order ANYTHING.

the gtx needs to be that specific card though Tongue  found a different PSU thats 12v60a, enough for 2 cards, that particular card is seperate from nvidias design using msi proprietary design... meaning only 22a are needed for that card.  would it cost extra to have you guys order them or would you price match newegg, im looking to make this build as painless and cheapest as possible.

yeah, that card is awesome. You going to OC it? (: Voltage adjustments... yummy. Yeah, I can get the card in - but of the 3 distys I've checked, none seem to have it in stock. They are still peddling the old cyclone design (garbage). Let me keep looking.
